Eugene W. Yockey, 87, of Kittanning, died Friday, March 2, 2007, in ACMH
Hospital. He was born Dec. 16, 1919, in Worthington, the son of the late
Ulysses Boyd and Delilah Jane (Lemmon) Yockey. He was a bodyman for Walker
Pontiac for 38 years, then owned Yockey’s Body Shop. He was a member of
Church of Christ in Kittanning. He graduated from the Western Pennsylvania
School for the Deaf in Pittsburgh. He enjoyed fishing, hunting deer, the
Lion King, writing poetry and inventing. He was an excellent bodyman and
loved his church. He is survived by his wife, Lucy M. Yockey, whom he
married Jan. 6, 1990; sons, Eugene Yockey Jr. and wife Elizabeth Kathleen of
Palmer, Alaska, and Charles “Chuck” Yockey and wife Beulah of Anchorage,
Alaska; four grandchildren, Kenneth, Tina, Mark and Jeff; four
great-grandchildren, Emily, Paul, Kadin and Kyle; three
stepgreat-grandchildren, Eric, Chelsea and River; a sister, Ruby Rugini of
Kittanning; a brother, James Yockey of Worthington; and a stepson, Donald
Rounds of Pittsburgh. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death
by his first wife, Evelyn (Salsgiver) Yockey, in 1983; brothers, William,
George, Charles and Lem Yockey; sisters, Genevieve and Marie; half-sisters,
Violet, Frieda and Nona; and a stepdaughter, Linda Rounds. Friends will be
received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at F.
DUANE SNYDER FUNERAL HOME in Worthington. Funeral service will be at noon
Wednesday in Church of Christ in Kittanning, with additional visitation one
hour prior to service with the Rev. Larry Krause, church pastor,
officiating. Interment will be in Worthington Lutheran Cemetery.
