Daniel C. Emerick, of Avalon, formerly a resident of Bellevue for 48 years, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008. Born June 28, 1926, in Pittsburgh, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Eleanor D. Emerick; and his parents, Daniel A. and Emma Emerick. Survived by his son, Daniel C. (Nancy P.) Emerick Jr.; and granddaughter, Shannon Emerick, of Charlottesville, Va.; good friend of Enid Yaworsky; brother-in-law of Margaret and Regis Campbell, of North Versailles, and the late Marie Crampton, Ann Pomerantz, Elizabeth Godfrey, Thomas and Robert Davis. A graduate of the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, Daniel worked as a machinist for 25 years at Weld Tooling Corp. He was an active member of the Western PA Deaf Senior Citizens Association and Church of the Assumption, Bellevue. He enjoyed railroad memorabilia and traveling and was a fan of Pittsburgh and the University of Virginia sports teams. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the LAWRENCE T. MILLER FUNERAL HOME INC., 460 Lincoln Ave., Bellevue. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday in Church of the Assumption, Bellevue. www.ltmillerfuneralhome.com.
