Noteworthy: Named director of the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf in Edgewood beginning Aug. 1.

Age: 54

Residence: Jacksonville, Ill.; will live at the Edgewood campus once she starts her new job.

Family: Children, Paitra Gibson, 35; Gabe Heinemann, 28; Betsy Brown, 25; and Ben Heinemann, 21

Background: Superintendent of the Illinois School of the Deaf since 2007; served in various positions there for 33 years. Since 2010, she has been dual superintendent at the school and the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired in Jacksonville, Ill.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in deaf education and elementary education, with a minor in English, from MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Ill.; master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Illinois at Springfield; education specialist degree from Gallaudet University in Washington; and a superintendent endorsement and certificate of advanced studies from the University of Illinois at Springfield.
