Obituary: Margaret (Crino) Laird, Class of 1945

Margaret Crino-LairdThe whole family is deeply saddened to pass on the news that Margaret (Crino) Laird, 89, a longtime resident of Johnstown, passed away early Thursday morning on January 31, 2013 and was surrounded by his family at the Kline Hospice House in Maryland where she stayed the last two days of her life. She was married to Robert R. Laird who preceded her in death seven weeks ago on December 13, 2013 after 63 years of marriage.

Her love showed through her giving of her time and compassion for others. She was well known for her smile and laughter. She was born in Jamestown, NY to the late Tony S. and Mary (Campo) Crino. She and her husband moved to New Market, Maryland, to be with their son in 2005. She was employed by Bestform until her retirement. An active member of National Fraternal Society of the Deaf, Division 85; and Pennsylvania Society for the Advancement of the Deaf; Johnstown Association of the Deaf. Longtime member of Central Deaf Senior Citizens and Western Pennsylvania Deaf Citizens. She was also involved with the Mid-Week Ladies Circle, now defunct, and was one of the two remaining members of the Circle.

Margaret is survived by her 3 children, Eddy, New Market, Md.; Joan (Doug), Walkersville, Md.; and Herman, Allison Park, Pa.; and grandchildren, Matthew, Annalee, Marty and Ashley. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Catherine (Cappucci), Josephine (Tilley); and her brothers, Frank and Tony (Crino).
