Today, we visit with a young man who is currently “putt-ing” for success, in Timothy Putt, a proud Class of 2005 graduate of WPSD.  He is a lifelong resident of Huntingdon, PA near Altoona, where his parents currently reside.  His father, Richard Putt, and sister Tiffany Putt are also graduates of WPSD in 1980 and 2010, respectively.  His grandmother, Sandy, who was a bus chaperone, brought our students to WPSD and back home every weekend for 40 years.

Following graduation at WPSD in 2005, he attended Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C., where he studied International Affairs with minor in History.  There, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in 2009.

Currently, Timothy is employed by the Department of Defense as a Geospatial Analyst.  His responsibilities include collecting, compiling, and integrating Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data such as remote sensing and cartographic data for analysis and visualization.  Also, he applies geospatial analytical methods to solve various intelligence problems.

When he is not working, he travels as much as he can.  Most of his post-work hours are spent at a gym engaging in weightlifting activities, dining at various international restaurants across the Washington, D.C. area with his family and friends, and reading books and magazines to deepen his knowledge in investments, cooking, and landscaping.

When asked about his favorite memories at WPSD, he said there were many fond memories.  However, he enjoyed the trips to New York City, Philadelphia, Washington, DC, and so many wonderful memories made with friends and staff during all 16 years of school at WPSD.

Tim said that WPSD helped prepare him for life by encouraging independent living skills such as cleaning, laundry, cooking, budgeting, all of which allowed him to experience a smooth transition from high school to college.  His advice to our current students of WPSD: “Find something that you have a great passion for, as that will make you happy.  Take that passion, give it all, and then not only you will be happy, but you’ll also be successful.”

His goals in the next five years are to obtain an overseas position and work there for a few years, complete in a half-marathon, buy himself a British bulldog, and own his first house.

WPSD thanks Timothy for taking the time to talk to us about his accomplishments, and we wish him continued success in his life!
