Fatima Muhammad, a proud graduate of Class of 2007, comes to us from the Pittsburgh area where her parents currently reside. Following graduation at WPSD, her journey began at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in Rochester, NY. After four years of college at RIT, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing in May 2011.

When asked why Fatima chose Marketing as her major in college, she explained that her internship experience at the BNY Mellon in Downtown Pittsburgh, exposed her to marketing and sparked her interest in this field. Fatima also had internship opportunities at WPSD’s Marketing Department during her senior year.

Three months before earning her Bachelor’s degree, she was offered a job with DCMA, the Defense Contract Management Agency. She took the job and moved to Baltimore, MD in August 2011. DCMA is a Department of Defense (DoD) component that works directly with suppliers to help ensure that DoD, Federal, and allied government supplies and services are delivered on time, at projected cost, and meet all performance requirements.

As Contract Administrator, her responsibilities include managing and closing out contracts, and processing contract compliance to ensure that the contents of the contracts are followed. Her 5 year goal is to go back to school for her MBA or a law degree.

Last November, Fatima traveled to Doha, Qatar for the First International Forum for the Deaf Muslims, and she volunteers for the Global Deaf Muslim. Fatima is an American citizen of Pakistani descent. Her family moved to the United States to seek better lives and opportunities after finding out that Fatima was born profoundly Deaf. In her free time, she loves to shop, read, follow current events, travel and spend time with family and friends and most importantly, cheer for the Pittsburgh Steelers!

Fatima thanks WPSD for all of the opportunities and experiences afforded to her as a student. She has so many memories at WPSD, but her senior year was a fun year because of the senior trip to Orlando, Florida! She says that WPSD taught her so and much and helped her become the person she is today.

Her advice to the current students of WPSD: If you know exactly what you want to do for a living, don’t wait. Don’t sit and wait for an opportunity to fall on your lap. Make the move, and be assertive in what you want to do in life.

WPSD thanks Fatima for taking the time to talk to us about her accomplishments in her life after WPSD. We are looking forward to your continued success in the coming years!
