Courtney Anne Hancock, 36, of Spring Church passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 15, 2024 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was carried into Heaven’s gate by Jesus and reunited with her grandparents.

Courtney fought a debilitating autoimmune disease the past year. She stayed true to who she is through it all, kind, gentle and never complained. Born June 11, 1987 in New Kensington she was the daughter of Randy L. and Barbara A. (Giaccardo) Hancock of Spring Church. She was a 2007 graduate of the Western Pennsylvania School of the Deaf and 2013 graduate of RIT earning a bachelor’s degree in multi-disciplinary studies.

Courtney was employed by the Western Pennsylvania School of the Deaf as a Teaching Assistant. She loved her students and always had a smile for them and showed them the utmost patience.

Courtney attended the Apollo Grace Assembly of God, growing up with her family.

She loved life. Courtney loved traveling, visiting museums, and old historic places, with her sister-in-law. She embraced the simple pleasures of the beauty of sunflower fields, the ocean, and many other examples of God’s creation. Courtney loved the Golden Girls TV show, the fall pumpkin season, and all animals.

Family was most important to her, and she cherished all family gatherings. Courtney was preceded in death by her, maternal grandparents, Philip John and Anne (Tandaric) Giaccardo and paternal grandparents, Robert L. and Phyllis A. Hancock.

In addition to her parents, Courtney is survived by her brother, Zachary (Shannon) Hancock of North Apollo; aunts, Roberta (Robert) Hancock, Susie (Ted) Speer; cousins, Brandi (Carl) King, Jim Speer, Angie (Charlene) Hancock, Madyson Hall, Noah Guzzo-Hancock; special person in her life, Matt Mastowski of New York; and the beloved family Great Dane, Brutus.

Special thank you from the family to cousin, Jean Stuchel and neighbor Bob.

There will be a celebration of Courtney’s life held Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Apollo Grace Assembly of God 609 1st St. Apollo, PA 15613 with Pastor Jason Jodon officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. Apollo.
