September 30, 2006 Alumni Meeting Notes

AA of WPSD President John Noschese called the Saturday, September 30, 2006 meeting to order at 3:20 p.m. in the WPSD Board Room.

Tom Hattaway and Troy Verner were excused and Wes Dickson was listed as unexcused.

The minutes of the last meeting was approved as read.

Treasurer Lawrence Hast gave his report. The previous balance was 4,939.66 and the current balance is 8,664.41. The balance of the John Hast Technology Fund remains the same.

He also reported that the May Day Picnic generated a net profit of 365.00. 78 people attend this event.

He added that 347 people purchased Kennywood Park tickets, 21 purchased Senior Citizens tickets, and 50 purchased meal tickets through us. The total net profit for this event is 2,369.00 and we have to split this with the PSAD-Pittsburgh Chapter.

Auditor Irene Hearn reported that she and her auditors found the book to be in good order.

Corresponding Secretary Rosie Noschese gave her report:

1) Sandra Cox wants her address to be removed from the website and requested that she receive NO mailings about any information related to WPSD.

2) Received Zane Noschese’s “Thank-you” letter for giving him the money for the Jr. NAD YLC.

3) Received a “Thank-you” letter from Scott Berdy, thanking us for the money for his 2 boys participating in the “Magic” contest in Russia.

4) Received letters from Tim Putt and Emily Noschese for the AAWPSD Scholarship Fund. (requesting that each one of them be reimbursed).

President John Noschese’s report:

1) Participated in the WPSD’s Board Meeting this morning (going as a “friend” of WPSD).

2) Met with Jim Bernauer to discuss various things

3) AA WPSD’s past Presidents has been honored on the plaque underneath the scoreboard on Teegarden Field

4) Applaud Lawrence Hast, Rosie Noschese, Richard Wilt, Joel Carr, and Alex Lemanski for their hard work during the Kennywood Park Day

Vice-President Kathy Betz’s report:

1) Fall-In Silent Auction will be on Saturday, October 21st at Heinz History Center

2) pictures from “Moore”

3) reported about the 2006 May Day Picnic

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Paul Blahut, WPSD CUP Chairperson, reported that 21 golfers participated and we have earned a net profit of $700.00. He will give a finalized report at the next meeting.

Danny Sheppeck gave his report on the fundraising regarding the “Horse Racing”.

There are no old business.

NEW BUSINESS:

Don Majocha (seconded) moved that we donate $500.00 to the Children’s Center of WPSD. PASSED

Valentine Wojton (seconded) moved that we donate $200.00 (purchasing Gift Cards from Giant Eagle) for the Fall-In Gala Silent Auction. Rosie Noschese (seconded) amended that we replace “$200.00 (purchasing Gift Cards from Giant Eagle)” with 2 – $100.00 SPA Massage certificates. PASSED AS AMENDED

Valentine Wojton (seconded) moved that we pay $1,184.50 to PSAD-Pittsburgh Chapter (from the Kennywood Park Day). PASSED

Joel Carr (seconded) moved that we nominate Richard Wilt as our Chairperson for the 2007 Kennywood Park Day. PASSED

Valentine Wojton (seconded) moved that we choose the July 7, 2007 as the tentative date for the Kennywood Park Day. PASSED

Irene Hearn (seconded) nominated herself as the Chairperson for the 2007 May Day Picnic. PASSED

We need to check on the 2008 Reunion Date (the weekend of June 27th).

The new business is closed.

WELFARE:

Verla Majocha has been receiving questions regarding the WPSD’s new logo and got answers.

Don Majocha reported that he went to a class reunion in Oil City, PA and some members there were arguing about the points in basketball (there were no 3-point shots in the past).

Kathy Betz asked the Senior Citizens for their help in making crafts for Christmas to help the WPSD Applied Studies Students’ fundraising project.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:15 p.m.

The next meeting will be on Saturday December 16, 2006 at 3:00 p.m.
