Donald S. Mowl,donald mowl 94 of Washington went home to be with Jesus on Saturday January 30, 2016 in Transitions Health Care. He was born on August 19, 1921 in Washington, PA son of the late Harold McGary Mowl and Grace Jobes. Donald was a graduate of Western Pa School for the Deaf, Edgewood, Pittsburgh, PA. He served as a chief deacon for 50 years under seven different pastors. He also served as officers like past President, President-elect, financial secretary, historian, editor, secretary, and photograph. In the year 2004 he took over full time serving as the leadership in Bible study and preaching, when a full time pastor was cut off the salary from Eastern District. He also served through self support for 8 years. On June 20, 1953 he married Mary Etta Tipton, with whom he shared over 62 years of marriage. Surviving in addition to his wife are a son Marty L. Mowl and a daughter Nancy Lou Mowl Britt (Dennis) five grandchildren Chris (Janise) Britt of Bentleyville, Valerie Schrader of Houston, Kenith (Jessica) Britt of Indianapolis, IN, Bill Britt Jr. of Washington, Vaughn (Chelsea) Simonelli of Washington, seven great grandchildren Benjamin, Julianna, Isabella, Zachary, Felicity, Laura, and Caroline, as well as a sister Betty Lawson and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are two brothers Harold M. Mowl and Richard S. Mowl, one sister Dorothy L. Cheslin. Don worked at Brockway Box Company for 30 years as Slitter operator and Corrugator set up operator. He was forced to retire at 50 years old due to physical problems, like arthritis. He owned and operated a gas station and Duraclean Cleaning and Von Schrader Rug and Upholstery Cleaning for more than 20 years. Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8p.m. in the Nichol Funeral Home 1873 East Maiden Street Washington where funeral services will be held on Thursday February 4, 2016 at 11:00a.m. with Pastor Edwin Bergstresser. Interment will follow in Lone Pine Cemetery.
