Obituary: Charles Tipton

Charles Richard Tipton Sr., 79, of Lower Burrell, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, in Elmcroft of Saxonburg, Saxonburg.

He was born July 3, 1931, in New Kensington, to the late William Leonard and Bertha Baxter Tipton Sr. He lived all his life in the local area.

Mr. Tipton attended the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf in Pittsburgh. He was grinder for Westinghouse Electro-Mechanical Division. He enjoyed working on cars, camping, Pittsburgh sports, Steelers, Pirates and Penguins and especially spending time with his family.

He is survived by two sons, Charles R. (Judith) Tipton Jr., of Lower Burrell, and David L. Tipton (Timothy George), of Denver, Colo.; a daughter, Caroline J. Tipton, of Lower Burrell; two grandchildren, Stephen and Melinda Tipton; and brothers, William L. Tipton Jr., of Rochester, N.Y., and Donald L. (Beverly) Tipton, of New Kensington.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Blaker Tipton.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the RUSIEWICZ OF LOWER BURRELL FUNERAL HOME, 3124 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell, where funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell. The family suggests memorials in care of Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, 300 E. Swissvale Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15218. www.rusiewiczfh.com.
